A Visit to Cole's New Doctor

Neither of us were too happy with his previous doctor so last Friday we met with a new pediatrician for Cole. We wanted to get advice regarding his head shape which we've noticed has started to look flat on the one side. Diagnosis: torticollitis. This is a condition that in Cole's case means that due to weak neck muscles on the one side he never fully rotated his head 180 degrees. Alot of more serious cases are easily spotted by the head always slumped to one side. Unfortunately as slight of a problem as Cole's condition is, and easily corrected with neck excercises we are now doing with him, his head shape has been affected by his constant favouritism of the one side. There are very few clinics in Canada that deal with this. And nothing is covered by our health care system here anyways. We are both familiar with torticollitis since our niece Caitlin also had it. It will most likely involve Cole being fitted for a helmet that will help his head conform back to a more symetrical shape. We are waiting to hear back from my sister who was in touch with Caitlin's doctor to get a reccommendation for a good orthopedic clinic in Detriot. Thank goodness we live in Windsor as we'll no doubt have to make a few trips back and forth. Below is an older picture of our twin nieces Caitlin and Mackenzie from back when Caitlin still had her helmet on.
